Developer Events LLC

Terms of Service

Last updated: October 4, 2026

These terms apply to your use of HackerSquad, operated by Developer Events LLC, a California limited liability company. HackerSquad provides developer events and software for registration, teams, projects, demos, judging, feedback, recordings, and cloud development environments. By using these services, you agree to these terms. SMS is optional and requires its own separate consent.

1. Accounts and eligibility

Provide accurate account and registration information, keep access to your account secure, and notify inquiry@hackersquad.io of suspected unauthorized use. Do not impersonate another person or use an account without permission. You must be at least 16 to use HackerSquad; if you are below the age of majority where you live, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. Individual events may have additional age or eligibility requirements.

If you act for a company or other organization, you must have authority to bind it to the terms applicable to its use. Creating an account, signing in, or supplying a phone number does not subscribe you to SMS.

2. Events, registrations, and prizes

HackerSquad organizes hackathons, hack nights, workshops, demo events, and related developer programs. Some events are operated with sponsors, venues, community leaders, or independent organizers. Follow the event listing, attendance rules, venue requirements, and instructions from event staff. Registration may be subject to approval, capacity, or other stated eligibility criteria.

Event schedules, venues, speakers, and formats may change. Check the event page and registration communications for updates. Any ticket price, cancellation policy, or refund conditions will be stated in the applicable listing or checkout. Nothing in these terms limits a refund or other remedy required by law.

Prizes and judging follow the rules published for the particular event. Participation does not guarantee a prize, employment, investment, or a commercial relationship. Do not falsify submissions, misrepresent authorship, manipulate votes, or interfere with judging.

3. Acceptable use

Treat attendees, staff, sponsors, and other users respectfully. Do not harass, discriminate, threaten, spam, infringe intellectual property, upload unlawful content, distribute malware, access systems without authorization, or disrupt the service. Use cloud environments, credits, APIs, and sponsor tools only within the access and resource limits granted to you. Keep passwords, API keys, and confidential information out of public projects and recordings.

We may remove content, restrict access, or suspend an account when reasonably necessary to address a violation, protect users or systems, or comply with law. Contact us if you believe a restriction was made in error.

4. Your projects, content, and recordings

You retain ownership of your original projects, code, demos, and other submitted content, subject to third-party rights and any separate agreement you make. Only submit material you are authorized to share. Public submissions and live demos may be visible to other participants, event partners, and visitors.

You give Developer Events LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, display, distribute, and use the content you submit to operate the service and for the event-related marketing, promotional, and educational uses described in our Privacy Policy. That policy also describes event recordings and sharing submitted content with event partners. This does not transfer ownership of your work or grant access to private repositories or private cloud files merely because you use HackerSquad.

Review recording notices before participating. Contact privacy@hackersquad.io about content removal or recording concerns. We cannot recall copies already shared with others or guarantee exclusion from an event-wide recording.

5. Software, third parties, and paid services

HackerSquad offers tools for event operations, cloud development, live presentations, recordings, and sponsor reporting. Keep your own copies of work you need to retain. Availability, storage, compute allocations, and features may depend on your plan or event. Third-party tools, identity providers, payment processors, registration platforms, and sponsor APIs have their own terms and policies.

Prices, billing intervals, usage limits, and cancellation conditions for paid services are those disclosed in the applicable checkout, order form, or agreement. Sponsorships, managed event production, and company subscriptions may be governed by a separate signed agreement; that agreement controls if it conflicts with these general terms for those services. These terms do not create a new fee or change an existing signed commercial agreement.

6. HackerSquad SMS program

Developer Events LLC sends optional text messages under the HackerSquad brand to the mobile number you provide. You choose separately between the following programs:

  • Event updates: registration confirmations, reminders, and schedule or location changes for events you register for.
  • Event invitations: recurring promotional messages inviting you to future HackerSquad events.

Choosing to receive messages

Visit SMS preferences, sign in, enter your mobile number, select the optional checkbox for each program you want, and save. New selections are unchecked by default. Checking a box and saving provides your electronic consent to that program, including messages sent using automated technology. You must be the subscriber or an authorized user of the number. Consent is not required to create an account, attend an event, or purchase anything.

Past attendance, a Luma registration, acceptance of these terms, or a phone number used for authentication does not automatically enroll you. Consent for event updates does not enroll you in promotional invitations. Changing your SMS number requires fresh selections.

Frequency and charges

Message frequency varies with your registrations and the preferences you select. Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile provider determines your messaging and data charges.

Opting out and getting help

Reply STOP to unsubscribe from HackerSquad SMS. You may receive one final message confirming your opt-out. No further program messages will be sent unless you opt in again. You can also turn off either program in SMS preferences or request removal by emailing inquiry@hackersquad.io.

Reply HELP for help or email inquiry@hackersquad.io. Please update your preferences if you change or stop using your number.

Delivery and privacy

Carriers are not liable for any delayed or undelivered messages. SMS delivery is not guaranteed and the program is not an emergency service.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle mobile numbers and consent records. We do not sell or share SMS opt-in data or consent with sponsors, partners, affiliates, or other third parties for their marketing. Providers that deliver messages for us may process this information only to operate the messaging program.

7. Service availability and responsibility

We work to maintain useful, reliable services, but cannot promise uninterrupted availability, error-free software, particular event outcomes, or the accuracy of material submitted by other users. To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided as available without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. You are responsible for evaluating tools, code, and advice before using them in your own systems. These terms do not exclude rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Changes and applicable law

We may update these terms as the service changes and will update the date on this page. We will provide notice of material changes through the service or appropriate account communications. Changes to these terms do not enroll you in SMS or expand the scope of an existing SMS consent. California law governs these terms, subject to any mandatory protections that apply where you live.
